                                  (The Beginning of the End)

                                         CHAPTER 16!

The feeling of satisfaction when we finally accomplished what our hearts have been longing for is a different feeling. That relief from anxiety is a genuine relief. Our minds rest knowing that we have reached a certain point we have been trying to reach, we feel ease in all parts of our soul. Even though sometimes the actions we did might come with consequences and sacrifices, at least, they are surely worth giving up for knowing that we are on the right track.

Kelvin was driving his car back home late at night while he was shedding tears. He never imagined his life ending up like this. He never imagined being the one to end his friendship with the people he called his families. He continued shedding tears as he stared at the road while thinking about Jane…

FLASH BACK…

It was still a young night around the Lagos beach during one of their Christmas vacations. Isaac was sitting by the beach as he stared at the waves of the water waving thru and fro. He was enjoying the peaceful night view of the quiet beach when he heard footsteps behind him. He concentrated on the river knowing for sure it was one of his friends. Jane sat beside him and also stared at the water quietly.

She took a deep breath after a while. “I wish life will always be this quiet and peaceful Isaac, no one will have to wish to die.” She said, staring at the water. Isaac giggled without facing her. “Life is not that easy Jane. We can’t always be offered happiness.” He said, still staring at the beach. 

She sighed as she leaned on his shoulder. “Sometimes I become exhausted, Isaac. I always become tired of trying. Trying to become the perfect girl for the family, trying to live a normal life, trying to do what I don’t like doing and trying to love people I am entitled to. It is just exhausting and at some point, I feel like ending it all.” She said with a worried voice.

She took a deep breath as she continued talking. “Do you know what keeps me moving even though I am obviously tired?”  She asked, staring at Isaac. He smiled and nodded his head. “Of course you are a strong lady Jane. I am sure you can cope with all you are going through.” He said with a smile. Jane giggled and moved closer to him.

“You are my strongest motivation, Isaac. I am just curious how you have managed to live in this crappy world without family. I admire your simple life Isaac and I always want to be there as your friend. I hope we will be friends forever.” She said, smiling at him. He smiled back and held her hands.

“I know it has not been easy all through this, but I will assure that I will always be there for you forever Jane.” He said with a smile as he hugged her…

Kelvin was still driving and crying while he remembered the good times they spent with Jane. “I am sorry Jane. I couldn’t protect you as a friend.” He said to himself as he slowly parked his car beside the road and cried for a while. He was still crying when his phone began ringing. He ignored the phone at first but he later stared at the screen. It is Dan. That was when he remembered that he hadn’t met or talked to Dan throughout the day. He quickly picked up the phone but before he could talk, the phone went out of power and switched off.

He quickly starts his car and drives to Dan’s house. He met Dan trying to drive out as he reached the apartment. He parked his car and before he could even walk out of the car; Dan rushed and hugged him tightly. He was panting hard as he grabbed him tightly so that he could barely breathe. “Where have you been Kelvin? What happened to you? I have been trying to reach you but I couldn’t. I went home and no one was there. I was very worried.” He said, still hugging him tightly.

Kelvin groaned slowly as he pushed back Dan a little. “Oh come on Dan, I can’t even breathe properly.” He said as he relieved himself from Dan’s grab. He sighed as he stared at him and leaned on the car. “Nothing happened Dan, I am seriously fine. I was just hanging out with my school friends.” He lied. 

Dan sighed deeply as he grabbed his hands. He stared into his face for a while before he talked. “Do you know how worried I was when I couldn’t reach you? I couldn’t even concentrate on work the whole day. Can you please let me know before you disappear like that again, my heart barely handles the situation.” Dan said looking very pitiful. 

Kelvin sighed as he moved closer to Dan. He stared at him for a while. He thinks this is the time to come out clean to Dan but he should make it more magical. He thinks he should make tonight a memorable one, at least even if Dan couldn’t forgive him; he would have something to hold on to as a parting memory. He slowly placed a kiss on Dan’s lips. “I am sorry Dan, but I have to attend to something really urgent and important. I will let you know later.” He said, looking at him.

Dan smiled as he grabbed his waist. “Do you think a single kiss is enough to apologize for what you did?” He asked as he pinned Kelvin to his chest. “You will have to be punished, boy.” He said as he picked him up and walked into the house with him. They kissed passionately while walking, Dan dropped him on the bed; he slowly removed his shirt as he continued kissing every part of his body.

Dan moved down slowly to Kelvin’s lower part and grabbed his dick in his mouth and started sucking it. He sucked him for a while before he turned in a 69 position as they sucked each other. After a while, Kelvin turned over while Dan mounted on him. The session was romantic as they took turn in fucking each other. They slept peacefully while cuddling each other…

The following morning, Kelvin opened his eyes to Dan staring at him. He is already used to the situation. It has become a daily routine for Dan to stare at Kelvin every morning before he wakes up. Kelvin smiled as usual. Dan giggled and gave him a morning kiss. “When will you stop staring at me every morning? Aren’t you convinced that I am here to stay?” Kelvin asked with a smile.

Dan also smiled while still staring at him. “I want to make that a dominant habit. I want to wake up beside you staring at your beautiful face for the rest of my life.” Dan said with a smile. Kelvin stared at him for a while. His heart is racing so fast. He is becoming scared because Dan is falling so hard for him. He also can’t deny the fact that he liked the guy extremely. He giggled a bit and adjusted himself.

“Don’t you think that one day I might wrong you in a way that you wouldn’t forgive me?” Kelvin asked, staring at him. Dan giggled again as he grabbed Kelvin and hugged him tightly. “I don’t know what the future holds for us Kelvin, but I don’t think there is a thing you will ever do to me that doesn’t deserve forgiveness. You aren’t a liar, so I am assured you won’t lie to me. Lying is the only thing I despise Kelvin.” He said as he hugged him tightly.

Kelvin’s heart continued racing, he couldn’t hold it anymore. He needs to speak out to Daniel immediately; he quickly turned over and faced him. “There is something I need to tell you Dan.” He said looking very worried. Dan was also confused. “What could that be Kelvin?” he asked looking at him. 

Kelvin sighed deeply for a while. He was talking when Dan’s phone continued ringing non-stop. He had to pick it up since it is his company’s emergency line. He quickly stood up after talking for a while on the phone. “There is an urgent problem in the company Kelvin and I think my attention is needed.” He said as he stormed into the bathroom. Kelvin was worried because he wished he had told him everything.

He quickly followed him to the bathroom. “Should I follow you to the company? We can talk on the road.” He asked desperately. Dan nodded his head. “You don’t have to Kelvin. It is something I can take care of. Just stay back at home and take enough rest, we will talk when I am back home.” He said as he got dressed and zoomed out. 

Kelvin lay back on the bed looking very worried. He just wondered what would make Daniel leave the house looking very confused. He is sure that whatever it was must be very important. He sighed deeply as he also stood up and headed into the bathroom as he got ready and headed out. He drove down to his house but to his surprise, no one was around.

He walked up straight to his room and lay on the bed thinking about how to settle the scores between Daniel and Mr. Emmanuel. That was when he remembered about the flash that contained Dan’s company’s secrets. He quickly jumped off and began looking for it all over but he couldn’t find it. He searched everywhere but the flash was nowhere to be found. “I just hope I have lost this flash for good without anyone finding it.” He said to himself as he quickly picked his car key and rushed to the company to make sure everything was alright.

“Life is really a vanity at last. Everything we have tried so hard to protect has turned and fallen in our presence. The future we have been trying hard to build is getting shattered in our hands. I wish I didn’t start this at first, I wish I didn’t let jealousy take over me. All these wouldn’t have happened to us.” Amir said, looking at Austin as they sat in the cell room.

Austin giggled a little. “You see, I am still yet to come to terms with the fact that Sarah is the mastermind behind all these. I am still yet to believe that she could be such a wicked soul. My mind still couldn’t accept that Sarah did all those cruel things to Jane and also forced her to poison herself. It makes me freaked out seriously Amir.” Austin said, looking worried.

Amir smiled and giggled also. “This world is full of unexpected events in Austin. We should just live expecting the unexpected at any moment because life will surely fuck us up one day. My only regret in this whole situation is dragging Steve into it. He is technically the first man that ever loves me genuinely but I can’t help how things are ending between us.” Amir said as tears dropped on his face.

Austin holds Amir’s hands. “There is still hope Amir, I am sure if Steve truly loves you, he will forgive and also wait for you.” He said, trying to console him. Amir sniffled a bit. “I don’t deserve forgiveness Austin, I am totally a jerk. I was a bad person. I should have told Steve everything at least than letting him find out the wrong way. I am sure he will never forgive me.” Amir said as he continued crying.

Austin hugged him and comforted him for a while. “We were not bad people Amir; we were just trying to protect ourselves. I believed whatever happened in the past was a survival race and all we did was for ourselves. We were not bad; we were just being considerate of ourselves.” Austin said as he hugged Amir…

Daniel stormed into the company as his secretary walked him to the board room where all the board members were waiting for him. He couldn’t believe what his eyes were seeing boldly on the screen that was being projected. It is an intruder using his authorized signature to extort from the company’s funds. “Can you explain what is going on here Daniel?” His grandfather asked, staring at him as he was sitting in the midst of other board members.  

Daniel couldn’t say a word as he stared at the transactions that kept on coming even while the meeting was going on. He was totally dumb folded as everyone was staring at him waiting for his response. The company is obviously running bankrupt with the rate of huge amounts being extorted in less than a day. 

The server security teams managed and blocked the company’s account immediately but even so, a lot of funds had been moved out already. Daniel was still standing looking very confused when his grandfather stood up and faced everyone. 

“As the CEO (chief executive officer) of this company, I have relieved Mr. Daniel of his duties as the COO (chief operations officer) of the company and also enforce an investigation committee on him with immediate effect from today.” He said as he walked out of the board room and all other board members followed him. Daniel fell on his knees as tears started rushing out of his face.

Kelvin who was standing by the door and heard the situation quickly rushed in and hugged Daniel. He is sure that whoever it is that has that flash is the person behind this. His hunch is on Mr. Emmanuel, he is the only one that knows about the plan. 

He is totally confused because he doesn’t even know how to approach the situation. How can he technically tell Dan that he was the one that copied the information? How can he reveal everything to Dan and make him understand?

This is obviously the hardest part of this game. “Just when I thought everything has come to an end, just when I thought I have fulfilled my wish and think of settling down, just when I thought things will get back to normal; little did I know it is just THE BEGINNING OF THE END…” Kelvin said to himself as he hugged Dan who was still crying…
