ODAFE U: So off to today’s conversation

First off all

We at pride tv want you to be safe and always protect your self against the COVID-19 virus, stay safe.

Si: Yeah, Thanks.

ODAFE U: So, talking about our community

What do you have to say about thee kito situation and the people involved in orchestrating these harassment?

SI: It kinda getting rampant, compared to before, everywhere you go these days You hear it one way or the other.

ODAFE U: Okay so what do you think we can do as a community to fight it?

SI: Firstly, staying safe. Best idea, prevention is better than cure, everyone has to comport his/ herself, Kito even rise within the community So I believe educating one another concerning it can help. There are people who belong to the community and yet still don’t know what KITO is.

ODAFE U: Yeah I understand that too, So have you ever been involved in a kito situation?

SI: No

ODAFE U: Okay it’s great you’ve never been involved in any kito situation and we at pride tv want you to always stay safe.

So to the main question

Tell us about your queer experience in Nigeria?

SI: Well

Being queer in Nigeria is like hiding a light in the dark so people won’t see it

My queer experience so far, isn’t really bad after all, except for the general society finding it difficult to accept who you are, friends and family also It’s like living a very very secretive life.

ODAFE U: wow , that’s deep, So do you have any plans of coming out to your family and everyone?

SI: Not really , Just few of my friends know my sexuality, and I’m kinda cool with that, coming out to my family might be difficult in terms of acceptance, I can’t afford to loose them.

ODAFE U: Oh, well do you feel you could come out to them someday?

SI: Maybe

Probably when I’m fully grown and settled.

ODAFE U: well I hope you get everything you’ve always wanted.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience and story with us

SI: Its my pleasure

ODAFE U: We at pride tv love you and we want you to be safe all day everyday

Have a good day.

SI: Thanks .
